“Team Pacific-Staying Great in 08”

Greetings Comrades;  Just recently returned from visiting District VI and their three Posts. VFW Post 2917 Commander Jerry Kraus had arranged a very nice social event and I was able to meet and brief their Post Comrades on current DPA issues and membership. Post 3457 Commander Mariano Fajardo and their comrades provided an excellent early evening buffet and I briefed a good gathering of Comrades on DPA events. VFW Post 2917 Commander Joaquin Topasna invited me to their 19th Anniversary Celebration and I was able to attend that event along with a very large turnout of Comrade’s and guest. All in all, it was a great trip and I thank all of the District VI Post Commander’s and Comrade’s for their gracious invitations and comradeship. Rose and I will be off station from 01 to 18 May 08 attending the VFW National C–IN-C’s Caribbean Cruise and visiting my relatives. Please contact DPA SVC Lyons, DPA JVC Malott or JR PDC Schaefer, if you have any issue that needs an immediate answer, or action. Congratulations to all our DPA District and Post Commander’s and Quartermaster’s that were awarded All State for the 2007-08 Term. There could have been more District and Post eligible had all the program criteria been met. Those Comrades awarded All State, send you hat size to DPA QM Power. Congratulations to District I Post 11435, District II Post 9555 and District V Post 11575 and their Comrades for working together in achieving 100% in membership, with “Team Pacific-Staying Great in 08”. District’s V and VI continue to strive for All American status. Congratulations to all our 100% and All American Posts to date. Current DPA membership stands at 101.10%. Our new DPA Service Officer-Phillip Spear and his DSO Assistant Pete Scalzo will begin their duties officially on 01 May 08. Their office remains in the Lifeline Clinic, on Don Juico Street (Perimeter Rd), in Angeles City, Philippines. I’ve requested a VA class date for Pete in September 08. Phil will be available at the June 08 DPA Convention in Pattaya, Thailand and will give a briefing concerning current VA issues. They are also in the process of having a wireless secure internet installed in their office. DPA Post participation with donations to the three major programs under the National Military Services Program is improving. At the beginning of this term I asked all Posts to include a donation to at least one of the three NMS programs. DPA JVC Malott has emailed all DPA Post Commander’s with details. If each Post would include whatever amount it could afford in its annual budget and forward their donations through the DPA NMS Chairman, then DPA can be credited with supporting our VFW National HQ’s NMS Programs. The DPA Convention 14-20 June 08 in the Caesar Palace Hotel, in Pattaya, Thailand is drawing near. District V Post 9876 has the DPA June Convention data and Final Schedule of Events posted on the DPA Website. There’s still time to make your reservation. The DPA Convention Book Ad prices have been listed in this months Typhoon, with a cut-off date of May 17th for receipt of ad request. Convention Book Chairman John Flaherty has done a super job and is still accepting ad requests. The VFW National Home for Children and the Clark Cemetery Grave Diggers continue to need the support of our Comrades in acquiring life memberships in both these worthy activities. A small fee of $35.00 for the VFW National Home and $25.00 for Grave Digger’s secures a life membership and provides much needed support. Don’t forget to submit your DPA Outstanding Award nomination packages for all the deserving Post Comrades during this 2007-08 Term. Continue with your outstanding community activities and programs support and we’ll succeed as “Team Pacific Staying Great in 08”. God Bless our Department, our Comrades and loved ones and those serving in harms way and God Bless America.
Yours in Comradeship,   Rhett Webber   Click here to read more in this months TYPHOON
