During 2006 Post 11435 representatives attended the rededication ceremony of Kadena Air Base’s Medal of Honor Memorial when A1C Pitsenbarger’s Air Force Cross was upgraded.  We had a good turn out and the VFW Posts and the American Legion jointly laid a wreath.  The event was sponsored by the Air Force Sergeants’ Association.

In 2006 we also attended repatriation ceremonies at the US Naval Hospital when the MIA photos and Biographies of Navy Medics were removed from the their “Hall of Heroes” upon location and return of their remains from Vietnam.

We acquired eight laptop computers from National Headquarters through the MAP program and placed them at the USO facilities on the military installations on Okinawa for use of the troops.

We were successful with our recruiting this year.  We recruited about 80 members and brought our stats up over 100 percent.

This year we had a District Christmas Party with both posts combining.  We had a nice time, plenty of food and toys for the children.  Everyone brought a dish and one post brought a ham and the other brought a turkey.  One comrade works at the bakery and he made a beautiful cake with the Cross of Malta on it.  See photo below.

In early 2007 we created the position of the Post Public Affairs Officer.  He has been a real asset to the Post and has increased our visibility considerably.  He managed to get all our public activities well publicized.  He also create a post website at http://www.vfwpost11435.org.
